i was born within the friendly confines that is cincinnati, ohio during the ladder part of '86 where i grew up with about as normal an upbringing as one can ask for. my parents are a sort of american dream in their own right; my father came from poor roots of the cumberland gap to grow into self made success while my mother was a true southern bell from the heart of the bible belt who dedicated her life to the upbringing of her three children living in a suburban neighborhood 15 minutes outside the city. needless to say; i had it easy.
my "awakening" came during the summer of 2001 when i went to england, the republic of ireland, and wales for a trip with 15 other students during the summer before high school. i remember the trip instructor mentioning that she had slept on a train while traveling though romania and i was hooked from that moment on i have been hooked by the idea of backpack travel.

fast forward past the "one-in-a-lifetime" trip involving sights, smells, tastes, friends, and of course football with the irishmen, you will find me four trips later and a collection of countries (my map) i can now say i have derived a true desire to see and experience the world beyond the familiar safety net of cincinnati, ohio, usa.
currently though, i live in fort myers, fl where i coach division one soccer at florida gulf coast university and live about twenty minutes from the gulf of mexico and the florida beaches. for about a year now this has been my place of residence and it has been tough to adjust to a location that is more midwestern retirement home than it is twentysomething hotbed. one day though, i hope to find a life through the luxury of everyday travel. it has been nine years since my first trip to europe and everyday after i have ached for the places i have not gone, for the voices i have not heard, and the smells linger in a future memory. (anonymous) i cannot say exactly when that day will arrive, but once it does i will be ready.
